The fourth quarter of 2007 in the consumer electronics industry started slow, as economic meltdowns affected the spending of lower- and middle-income customers. T he overall economic condition of the U.S. is uncertain, forcing the industry to take several risks. Economic trends which in turn dictate the trends in consumer spending are discussed.

Montana-based retailer Vann's in 2006 had an estimated overall revenue of $50 million, with estimated consumer electronics (CE) sales of $43 million in the same year.
