Variety, Recycling Spark Healthy Jump in Rechargeable Batteries
Article Abstract:
The market performance of the three types of rechargeable batteries, Ni-MH, Ni-Cd and Lithium ion, has grown individually due to strong demand from separate market niches. Ni-Cd, whicb is predicted to be replaced by Ni-MH in the future, reported a 3% growth in sales to 103.65 bil yen in 1997. Sales for Ni-MH increased by 13% to 101.91 bil yen in 1997 while those for Lithium ion, the fastest-growing rechargeable battery category, improved by 50% to 208.41 bil yen.
