A mathematical programming approach towards optimized master production scheduling
Article Abstract:
An aggregate optimization model of materials requirement planning and master production scheduling (MPS) systems is considered. The model, which assumes that the 'availability of material accumulates over time,' facilitates the use of linear programming in deriving maximum-profit production schedules under different capacity constraints for MPS problems of varying degrees of complexity. A stage-wise decomposition method is also discussed.

A production scheduling system in a hybrid flow shop
Article Abstract:
The design of a production scheduling system in a hybrid flow shop is analyzed with lot sizing and sequencing as the affective variables. The makespan and maximum work-in-process are established as manufacturing criteria. Experimental results showed gradual makespan increases after it decreases and as the production run length increases. Maximum work-in-process level also increases as the production run variable increases monotonically.

Stochastic linear optimisation of an MPMP production planning model
Article Abstract:
A new demand stochastic LP model was formulated to address a multi-product multi-period problem with stochastic demands. The model involves the use of of a two-stage discrete approximate formulation that is needed to effectively resolve the MPMP problem. Prior to its conversion into a single large-scale LP model, the MPMP problem was first tooled into 'wait and see' and 'here and now' stages.
