Background and materials
Article Abstract:
Classification refers to the assignation of a label to a particular point based on certain categories. This hotly debated topic among computer scientists and statisticians actually has a wide range of practical applications. However, the effectiveness of any classification procedure relies on how well the essential geometric nature of a data, or a point, can be recognized and classified. A standard approach to ensuring the effectiveness of classification is by choosing an algorithm that can successfully classify the learning set.

Fundamental issues in experimental design
Article Abstract:
The statistical experimental design technique is a good method as experimental results are directly affected by the way the experiment is performed and data analyzed. The difference in the results of an experiment within a group of tests should be treated as a baseline for determining the difference between repetition of the experiment. Replication is expensive to perform and may not be viable in the given time. Analysis of variance can be used to compute the overall results without violating the replication rule.

Preparing effective layouts
Article Abstract:
Focusing on the overall layout of the plots is required in conducting performance studies of processes. Analyzing the performance of etch and laser processes used in making precise holes in a substrate deposited on glass gives emphasis on the way response data should be effectively displayed. An effective layout can be developed by evaluating what comparisons should be considered. Using software which facilitates layout comparison is important in analyzing data from different perspectives.
