Company donates fly ash technologies
Article Abstract:
Air Products and Chemicals Inc of Allentown, PA, has donated five patents issued for technologies that can strengthen asphalt and concrete, and increase fire retardance of plastic- and asphalt-based construction materials to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. The technologies, which utilize fly ash generated by the burning of a fuel-oil-like substance called Orimulsion, will be tested and developed by Manoj Chaudhury, associate professor of chemical engineering, John Coulter, associate professor of mechanical engineering and mechanics, and Horace Moo-Young, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering.

Strong U.S. growth for industrial gases
Article Abstract:
A study done by the Freedonia Group shows US shipments of industrial gases will rise by an average of 6.5% annually, reaching a value of $6.2 billion in 2004. The study adds that growth in shipments would be fueled by strong demand for industrial gases by the electronics, petroleum refining, enhanced-oil-recovery and water-treatment sectors. Nitrogen and oxygen will continue to be the most sought-after gases, with nitrogen reaching a value of $1.6 billion and oxygen almost $1.2 billion in sales by 2004.
