Coupling for chiral compounds
Article Abstract:
Dow Chemical Co and Diversa have formed an alliance for developing and producing chiral compounds for use as active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediaries and other fine chemicals. The partnership will enable pharmaceutical companies seeking to introduce single-isomer chiral drugs to develop and produce these pharmaceutical products rapidly. Diversa will lend its proprietary high-throughput technologies to the alliance, while Dow will use its contract manufacturing capabilities to synthesize the materials.

Minimize wastes from specialty chemical processes
Article Abstract:
Britest Ltd.'s "Best Process Design" is a methodology for better waste minimization and synthesis-route identification during process development. The applications of the Britest tools in specialty chemical processes, as well as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for the manufacture of specialty chemicals, are also discussed.
