Post design modeling for cellular manufacturing system with cost uncertainty

Article Abstract:

An interval programming model was utilized to illustrate post-design decisions in a cellular manufacturing system. The model, which involves objective function coeficients that are expressed in range instead of a point estimate, takes into consideration informational uncertainty related to exceptional elements and bottleneck machines' cost estimates. It also involves lessening of interval objective function by transforming it into a multi-objective problem utilizing order relations.

Production planning and scheduling for injection moulding of pipe fittings: a case study

Article Abstract:

A model utilizing a three-stage sequential procedure worked effectively in the development of production planning and scheduling for injection moulding of pipe fittings. The model was shown to formulate a production planning and scheduling that greatly lessen the overall costs associated with injection moulding of PVC pipe fittings in a factory. The model was able to use forecast data in a formalized manner and finalize plan in a shorter time.
