Fend off data degradation
Article Abstract:
The existence of various risks associated with data degradation has prompted companies to find efficient and relatively safe means of storing information. Although a number of novel products for storing information have emerged in the market, some firms have maintained the use of conventional storage devices such as floppy disks, disk drives and mass-data storage systems. In order to ensure the quality of stored information, devices must be kept in cool, dry media in order to protect them from radiation, magnetic fields, and sunlight. Experts also discourage the use of brand new and unexercised tapes.

Software hones CMM accuracy
Article Abstract:
Computerized Error Correction Methods allow the accurate modeling of a coordinate measuring machine's (CMM) error profile and provide built-in computerized compensation that does away with stress-inducing, costly physical adjustments to a CMM. As software programs and microprocessor controls become more sophisticated, these methods are allowing CMM manufacturers to lower CMMs' overall maintenance costs, improve their efficiency and operate them in varying environments.

How to store- and save- vital quality data
Article Abstract:
The increasing need to acquire quality information have prompted experts to seek alternative ways to develop highly reliable storage and back up systems. The evolution of redundant arrays of inexpensive disks (RAID) and automated data libraries (ADL) presented business enterprises with wide ranging options for efficient backup systems. Recently, one of the most popular local backup systems used for commercial purposes is the quarter-inch-cartridge tape drive.
