Using manufacturing's mindpower
Article Abstract:
Knowledge management is the newest business trend that harnesses the intellectual power of a firm towards higher profits. It proposes the idea that to become successful, a firm's knowledge is as important as its physical and financial assets. Unfortunately, an average firm usually underestimates the contribution that manufacturing people can give in these initiatives. Manufacturing people can give data and information about products and the expertise in using the integrated definition method that can be valuable to any knowledge management initiatives.

Users, developers coordinate their search for RAMM
Article Abstract:
The Consortium for Non-Contact Gauging is pushing for the widespread use of the rapid agile metrology for manufacturing (RAMM) system. The group plans to formulate RAMM system engineering guidelines by Mar. 1995. RAMM is considered as a more efficient alternative to coordinated-measuring-machine since it can offer precise, real-time surface measurement data. Companies which downsized and had no more technical personnel can depend on RAMM.
