Interactive graphics in GPSS-PC
Article Abstract:
GPSS-PC is a recent implementation of the discrete event simulation language GPSS, the General Purpose Simulation System. With the introduction of Version 2, GPSS-PC has added interactive graphics and animation to its simulation environment. Its graphics windows are truly interactive, allowing manipulation via an optional pointing device, and assertion of all simulation primitives. All windows are online, providing for a visualization of model dynamics, and one of the windows allows animations of the simulation to be played out in an essentially unbounded virtual screen. In addition, a CAD-based animation postprocessor is scheduled for release in late 1987. It can lend considerable realism to previously recorded animations. In accordance with the design goals of the interactive graphics of GPSS-PC, the animation postprocessor is designed to run with minimal hardware requirements, if necessary. This paper discusses the design alternatives leading to the implementation of the interactive graphics in GPSS-PC, and the use and limitations of animated simulations. Programming for a nuclear reactor instrument simulation
Article Abstract:
This note discusses 8086-8087 machine-language programming for simulation of nuclear reactor instrument current inputs by means of a digital-analog converter (DAC) feeding a bank of series input resistors. It also shows FORTRAN programming for generating the parameter tables used in the simulation. These techniques would be generally useful for high-speed simulation of quantities varying over many orders of magnitude. (Reprinted with permission of publisher.)

Catalog of simulation software
Article Abstract:
A table present a wide range of available simulation software for microcomputers, minicomputers, mainframe computers. The table presents information on the name and approximate cost of each package, the kind of system on which it runs, the operating system or other software required, a contact person, and a brief description of the capabilities of the package.
