Justification of Purchase of Simulators or Simulation Equipment
Article Abstract:
A panel of R and D and computer experts discussed justification for the purchase of simulators, recognizing that a number of people within the corporate hierarchy will be involved in the purchase decision, so various aspects of the purchase will need to be addressed. Some factors involved are the life span of the plant or vehicle to be simulated, the amount of training-oriented use the simulator will get, how many research, development, and engineering applications will be addressed, and the effect of using state-of- the-art technology on the company's image. How manufacturers of simulation systems can help justify purchases was also addressed.

Issues in Simulation in the Chemical Sciences
Article Abstract:
The 1983 Summer Computer Simulation Conference included a panel discussion of simulation issues in chemistry. One issue regarded the difficulty of simulating certain basic chemical processes. Another issue is the need for better software. Making better use of simulation in pharmacokinetics and the building of chemical plants was also discussed.
