Low pressure gas locked in carbon: a revolutionary fuel cell provides for two thirds of the storage capacity of conventional compressed natural gas systems at only a sixth of the pressure
Article Abstract:
A new type of fuel tank using adsorbed natural gas (ANG) technology can adsorb natural gas at just 41 bar, compared to pressures up to 250 bar in steel cylinders used to store compressed natural gas (CNG). The new technology uses a flat, lightweight multi cell aluminium extrusion which is filled with a microporous carbon matrix that adsorbs natural gas. It reduces compression cost and complexity, lowers container weight and allows designers to incorporate more complicated tank profiles into vehicle superstructures.

Bearings: how the experts can help
Article Abstract:
Neale Consulting Engineers undertook a tribological investigation of cylinder liner materials. The identification of optimum materials and surface finishes was made following extensive wear testing and metallurgical examination. Engineers at Neale are often called upon to design projects by companies seeking superior bearing technology. The company is often involved in analysing bearing failures so that possible causes can be eliminated and key areas can be focused on.
