Market share and warranty costs for renewable warranty programs
Article Abstract:
Warranties are a competitive strategy used by manufacturing firms for a broad variety of objectives including increased sales and market share and enhanced corporate image. They cost considerably and therefore the finances relating to the establishment of a warranty program must be accurately gauged and its impact on profitability must be carefully considered. A study investigated two types of warranty schemes which furnish a renewal option and their influence on market share and warranty costs.

Manufacturing planning and control practices and their internal correlates: a study of firms in Ghana
Article Abstract:
Ghana's manufacturing planning and control practices were analyzed through the use of Whybark and Rho survey instrument. The survey instrument revealed that planning and control practices being implemented in Ghana are almost the same with those used in developed countries. Past experience plays a vital role in the adoption of planning and control practices of firms in the country. The future plans of customers were also found to be influential on a company's long-term production plan.

Wall Street, accounting, and their impact on manufacturing
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the impact of the US stock market and financial and managerial accounting on the orientation of US manufacturing. The link between the suppliers of capital, the accounting systems and the users of capital was firmly established. Three alternatives for changing accounting systems without affecting investor interests were proposed, namely, establishing management incentives, changing the primary accounting system and changing the basis for overhead allocation.
