Article Abstract:
NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter will set the stage for a new era in spacecraft telecommunications. Its onboard Electra UHF relay transceiver receives data from a lander or rover and transmits the information back to a series of large radio telescopes located on Earth. The other features of Electra are presented. The details of data transmission in early Mars landers were also given.
