Porous polymers
Article Abstract:
Porous polymers that are used as adsorbents or extractions agents are beneficial in processes where onsite regeneration is needed. Technologies utilizing porous polymers are successfully competing in select process and environmental-remediation operations. Polymeric adsorbents, which can be regenerated onsite at ambient temperatures by using acid alkali or microwave radiation, are seen to decrease energy costs and increase throughput, relative to steam stripping, along with increasing removal of organics from some aqueous systems.

Cooking up catalysts
Article Abstract:
Catalyst manufacturers are developing formulations that result in long and active service life for their products. The formulations include increasing active metals on the catalyst base, enhanced dispersion of the active metal on the base or special proprietary promoters. Regenerators are also cooperating with manufacturers in developing catalysts that are more attuned to regeneration.

Thin-walled, honeycomb catalysts boost activity and cut costs of SCR
Article Abstract:
Cormetech Inc's catalyst has more surface area compared to the usual honeycomb titanium-vanadium catalysts employed for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx in combustion fluegases. The Cormetech catalysts increase catalytic activity, resulting in reduced catalyst volume. Cormetech employs proprietary die technology from Corning Inc to extrude its thin- walled catalysts.
