Article Abstract:
The Integer Project at the Building Research Establishment's Watford, UK, base is an eco-friendly house designed to encapsulate the best of modern environmental design. The house, designed by a team which includes consultant Oscar Faber, incorporates Siemen's Instabus EIB technology which controls lighting, automatic blinds, a security system and the garden water pumps. Solar energy provides heating and hot water for the house via a photovoltaic panel and a wind turbine. The house's construction is being filmed for a BBC TV program to be aired in January 1999.
