The confidence game
Article Abstract:
Bootstrapping allows the measurement of confidence intervals from sample data sets. Being a nonparametric method, bootstrapping is easy to comprehend and can be applied to conditions beyond the scope of conventional theory. Although it entails rigorous computations on the part of the user, computer technology decimates this problem. The extensive use of confidence intervals in research necessitates its understanding, with particular attention to its applications in objective work.

Improve experimental sensitivity through blocking
Article Abstract:
The blocking strategy uses prior knowledge of sources of variation to improve experimental sensitivity. The experiment is conducted in such a way that the variabilities can be properly measured within blocks. Examples of the method's operation verify its usefulness and flexibility in fostering improvements on a continuous basis. This practical design strategy for experimenters scores over the complete randomization strategy in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

Confidence intervals
Article Abstract:
Confidence regions can be used to formally characterize statistical uncertainty whose estimation relies on the validity of certain assumptions. Underestimation of the true uncertainty in the estimated line is common for confidence regions although an underestimate can give a reliable reality check. Quality control software developers can avail of these statistical methods and create more user-friendly statistical software packages.
