The right tools for the job
Article Abstract:
Ansys' DesignSpace 3 suite offers an easy way to analyze component behaviour. It contains the Stress Wizard, along with a Vibration Wizard and a module called Explorer. This module is aimed at users with complex components to analyze, and permits interaction with the adaptive meshing. DesignSpace, which is most effective when used with a full solid modeller, is still under development. Ansys plans to launch a Thermal Wizard in May 1998. Article also looks at virtual reality simulation technology.

Graphics just go on getting better
Article Abstract:
There are continuing improvements in the performance of CAD graphics monitors, despite the lack of technology improvements. The sector continues to be led by CRT technology, although flat screen applications are rising. Several companies have introduced new products. Among them are Trident Microsystems with its SXGA TFT panel and Fujitsu's 42 inch plasma display.
