Article Abstract:
The Hertfordshire Landbank project launched by the Herts Community Council backed by the Rural Development Commission aims to initiate small rural residential developments by purchasing exceptions sites and organising housing association bids. James Clappison, environment under secretary made attempts to explain government policy for rural housing at a conference organised by Robert Hill, adviser to the Hertfordshire Landbank project. The government wants to make better use of existing housing stock and wants to build new homes on previously developed land. It is committed to value for money and believes that new providers will offer beneficial competition.
