Ultrasonic testers boost welding quality, productivity
Article Abstract:
John Deere Dubuque Works uses Panametrics Inc.'s Epoch II and Epoch IIB ultrasonic flaw detectors to detect weldment discontinuities in their construction equipment products. Before acquiring these instruments, the company relied solely on after-the-fact inspection practices, which proved to be inaccurate and harmful to employee morale. After the company' welders began using the testers, however, officials observed a marked improvement in the quality of manufactured parts and in their employees' skills.
