Using corn instead of glycerin to produce propanediols
Article Abstract:
Research has shown that corn sugar can be used as an alternative to glycerin in the production of propylene glycol (1,2-propanediol or PG). Corn sugar can also be used to produce 1,3-propanediol (PDO). Research and development efforts of scientists and chemical companies in the production of corn-derived propanediols are discussed.
