What higher education should be teaching about quality - but is not
Article Abstract:
The need to gain a competitive edge in a changing global marketplace necessitates the employment of quality training programs which only educators can supply. However, traditional educators seem reluctant to face up to the challenges posed by global developments. A Baldrige Award survey was conducted among recipients of the award in 1994. Survey results indicate four key challenges confronting educators in the US. These include the need for an increased awareness of quality training topics, the reassessment of curriculum, exploration of benchmarking opportunities and proper training.

Up in the air about quality
Article Abstract:
Airline managers must look beyond short-term profit and take steps to ensure customer loyalty. Since the airline industry is service-oriented, passengers expect to be provided their comfort and information requirements. However, a study showed that there is a gap between customer expectations and airline services. Managers can prevent quality failure by according both passengers and employees the respect they deserve, thereby working towards the loyalty of both groups to the airline.
