Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in aquatic microbial systems: a new analysis of temporal variation and species richness-predictability relations
Article Abstract:
Resampling statistics are used to demonstrate that the fundamental relation between biodiversity and variation in ecosystem functioning is not a consequence of analytical artifacts. A new analysis is presented which confirms the negative relationship between richness and the variability of carbon dioxide flux, which is an ecosystem process.

Inorganic soil nitrogen under grassland plant communities of different species composition and diversity
Article Abstract:
Aboveground plant biomass and soil inorganic nitrogen pools in a biodiversity experiment in northern Sweden, with plant species richness ranging from 1 to 12 species are measured. Biomass increased and nitrate pools decreased with increasing species richness.

Species vs community perspectives in biodiversity experiments
Article Abstract:
The different mechanisms explaining biodiversity effects in plant communities are described. It is essential to follow more detailed development of populations and communities.
