Government support for the nuclear industry has helped power plants to survive despite construction mishaps, poor safety procedures and the failure to deal with the problem of radioactive waste. Development of alternative sources of energy suffered because of disproportionate allocations.

Wise use's labor ruse: the anti-environmental wise-use movement is attempting - both successfully and unsuccessfully - to forge ties with workers
Article Abstract:
The timber industry in the Pacific Northwest is attempting to incorporate wise use movement strategies as a way of countering Old Growth forest conservation. It is ironic that timber workers and labor leaders find themselves working with the anti-labor wise use movement.
