Evolution of local adaptations in dispersal strategies
Article Abstract:
The evolution of local adaptations of dispersal probability and distance within a single, circular, and habitat patch is investigated using an individual based model. Results reveal that adjustments of dispersal strategies to local demographic situations are in principle possible and are selected for under certain conditions.

Leaf mass loss in wetland graminoids during senescence
Article Abstract:
Mass loss of senescing leaves is an important part of plant biomass turnover and has consequences for assessment of ecosystem productivity, ecosystem nutrient use efficiency, and plant nutrient resorption efficiency. Data on mass loss are scarce and often based on leaf area as the reference base.

A model for the evolution of pathogen-induced leaf shedding
Article Abstract:
A size-structured plant population model is developed to study the evolution of pathogen-induced leaf shedding under various environmental conditions. The model predicts that ESS leaf shedding rates increase with nutrient availability.
