Issues in the management of the environment and natural resources in Bangladesh
Article Abstract:
An integrated framework combining several goals is essential for sustainable environment management in Bangladesh. Increasing poverty, population, and political instability are key reasons for degradation and unsustainable use of natural resources in the country. Analysis of different sectors such as natural resources, hazards, and urbanization reveals that developments in one sector adversely affect developments in the others. Deforestation, inequalities in land distribution, lack of environmental awareness, and weak institutional mechanisms contribute to poor resource management.

Pollution control policies and natural resource dynamics: a theoretical analysis
Article Abstract:
A theoretical analysis of pollution control policies and resource dynamics takes into account a simple third order model of relationships between resource abundance, pollution, and capital used in pollution control. The singular perturbation approach analyzes the interaction graphically. Stationary and cyclic are the two modes of behaviour possible under this model. It is safer for decision makers to focus on pollution observation than on resource abundance. In the latter case minor alterations in policy variables more easily cause a collapse of the resource.
