Nutrient removal in a vertical upflow wetland in Piracicaba, Brazil
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that vertical upflow systems are effective in removing nutrients from wetland areas. A system in Piracicaba, Brazil, demonstrated removal rates of 50% for ammonia, 78% for nitrate and 93% for phosphate, and offered the option of recycling nutrients for animal feed or fertilizer.

Trace element fluxes to the Baltic Sea: problems of input budgets
Article Abstract:
The source of metals pollution in the Baltic Sea is researched. The amount a metals found in the sea are too high for the amount that can be delivered by tributary rivers, so atmospheric pollution is also a contributor.
