Parasite strain coexistence in a heterogeneous host population
Article Abstract:
A study focuses on the existing parasite strain and attacks in a heterogeneous host population, which leads to a susceptibility and transmissibility of certain diseases in some of the hosts having an epidemic size smaller than for the homogeneous host population. The analysis reveals that there is a possibility of coexistence of the parasite strains with different strategies without any tradeoffs or local spatial structure, since that intermediate-strategy parasites never persist.

Effects of asymmetric dispersal and environmental gradient on the stability of host-parasitoid systems
Article Abstract:
The effects of dispersal frequency, dispersal asymmetry, number of patches and environmental gradients on the stability of the host-parasitoid interactions are analyzed. The results suggested that stability is more likely when parasitoids move preferentially towards patches where they have high searching efficiency or when hosts go mainly to patches where they have a low growth rate.

Combined effects of intraspecific competition and parasitoid attacks on the dynamics of a host population: a stage-structured model
Article Abstract:
A host-parasitoid stage-structured model in which host intraspecific competition is accounted for by a flexible density dependence function is analyzed. The importance of the interactions between top-down (parasitism) and bottom-up (intraspecific competition) effects in the regulation of host-parasitoid systems is discussed.
