Species evenness and productivity in experimental plant communities
Article Abstract:
Data from a large multi-site grassland experiment (BIODEPTH) for relationships between evenness of species composition and total biomass of communities is examined. It is concluded that relationship between evenness and biomass resulted from multiple direct and indirect effects, the relative strength of which de4pended in part on the presence of large dominant species.

Species richness, temporal variability and resistance of biomass production in a Mediterranean grassland
Article Abstract:
A temporal variability and resistance to perturbation of the biomass production of grassland communities from an experimental diversity gradient is studied. The result showed that with increasing species richness relative temporal variability of plant populations increased but that of communities decreased, supporting the insurance hypothesis and related theory.

Species richness vs. evenness: Independent relationship and different responses to edaphic factors
Article Abstract:
The relationship between species richness and evenness and their responses to edaphic nutrient factors in the field boundaries were examined by correlation analysis and an ordination method. The results indicated that different and independent ecological processes determined species richness and evenness.
