Temporal self-similarity created by spatial individual-based population dynamics
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that population dynamics tend to represent scale-free and power law structures, based on influences from mortality, reproduction, and offspring dispersal. These findings suggest that simple nonlinear models are inadequate for depicting spatial relationships within populations.

Spatial dynamics in breeding performance of a predator: the connection to prey availability
Article Abstract:
The spatial dynamics of the numbers of breeding northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) pairs, goshawk brood size and offspring sex ratio and their connection to the abundance of grouse are described. An interconnection exists between the goshawk offspring sex ratio and grouse abundance.

Non-linear biological responses to environmental noise affect population extinction risk
Article Abstract:
The modification of the population variability and population extinction risk by non-linear response of the environmental noise is investigated. The consequences of non-linear filtering in the context of density-dependent population dynamics are described.
