The ecology of interfaces: riparian zones
Article Abstract:
Riparian zones generate interaction among a wide variety of environmental processes and species because of their unique role in the biosphere. Variable flood cycles, geographically individualized channels and climatic changes create unique animal and plant diversifications. Their importance in landscaping and water supplies draws humans into the riparian zone dialog.

Landscape ecology: What is the state of the science?
Article Abstract:
A study on the reciprocal interactions between spatial pattern and ecological processes is presented. Landscape ecology should continue to refine knowledge of when spatial heterogeneity is fundamentally important, rigorously test the generality of its concepts, and develop a more mechanic understanding of the relationships between pattern and process.
