The evolution of larval foraging behavior in response to host plant variation in a leaf beetle
Article Abstract:
Host utilization of the chrysomelid beetle Oreina elongata is examined to demonstrate interpopulation variation in the degree of specialization. The results suggested that the degree of exploratory foraging behavior is higher in larvae from the two-host population than in single host populations, and a field survey of the two-host population also indicated that larvae do move between host species.

First confirmation of a native bird-pollinated plant in Europe
Article Abstract:
The pollination of Anagyris foetida L. (Fabaceae), a Mediterranean species that is a relict of the Tertiary, is studied in two populations of SW Spain over a three-year period. Results reveal that pollen loads carried by the birds are high, as are also the loads transferred to the pistil.

Evolutionary aspects of host plant specialization - a study on bruchids (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)
Article Abstract:
The relationship of bruchids and their legume hosts by extensive field sampling and by rearing the beetles from the samples is studied. The changes in the bruchids' chemosensory system determining the females' host selection behavior helps in explaining the host shifts.
