The evolutionary ecology of tolerance to consumer damage
Article Abstract:
An analysis is presented on the theory of tolerance in plant physiology, which assumes that trade-offs in internal resource allocation constrain the evolution of tolerance in plants. It is posited that external constraints, including nutrient availability and pollinator abundance, play an equally significant role in the development of tolerance.

The ecology and physiology of viviparous and recalcitrant seeds
Article Abstract:
Research is presented on nondormant, desiccation-intolerant seeds, focusing on plant hormones as regulators of seed responses to environment. The implications of these findings in forestry, agriculture, and seed bank conservation are also discussed.
