The Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service received the Best Team Award at the National Fire Awards 2006. The award was in recognition of the Service's comprehensive fire training developed for the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service hosted an inter-faith gathering at Kingsway Fire Station. The initiative was done in partnership with the Forum of Faiths for Derby and the University of Derby's Multi-Faith Centre.
