The Improvement and Development Agency in coordination with Fire Service CollegeEs Centre for Leadership developed the Leadership Academy program which aims to enhance public relations and leadership qualities of councilors in Fire and Rescue Authorities. A bespoke development program for the newly-elected members of the Fire and Rescue Authorities is being planned.

Large-scale training events, with regard to response in the face of a major building collapse, were recently performed by the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. The scenario had piles of concrete and pipes set up to simulate the required environment for the training.

Staffordshire climbers face toughest challenge yet

Article Abstract:

Sixteen Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Staffordshire are training to climb the top of Mount McKinley in Alaska to raise 34,000 pounds sterling for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund. The expedition will take place on May 6-27, 2008.
