Purification facilities will protect city's water supply
Article Abstract:
Milwaukee, WI, has finished its new water treatment plants in July 1998, facilities that are aimed at protecting the city's drinking water from cryptosporidium. The new facilities, built by J.S. Alberici Construction Co., Inc. of Milwaukee in cooperation with Black & Veatch, use equipment made by Ozonia, Inc. of Lodi, NJ, to produce ozone that is injected into the water being treated to kill cryptosporidium. The Milwaukee Water Department and the city's health department have been taking precaution against cryptosporidium since 1993 when over 100 individuals died from drinking contaminated water.

Energy-efficient retrofit saves electricity and money for wastewater plant
Article Abstract:
The wastewater treatment plant of the New Jersey-based Bergen County Utility Authority (BCUA) has been successfully disposing of energy waste in a cost-efficient manner. It will soon be able to save electricity, reduce pollution and generate more than $14 million in measured savings for taxpayers when the authority completes an innovative upgrade project at the plant. The project entails the installation of new equipment and processes that will save the BCUA more than $1 million a year while creatively disposing of the plant's methane gas.
