A longitudinal study of marital problems and subsequent divorce
Article Abstract:
Researchers have considered the extent to which specific marital problems in 1980 mediate the links between demographic and life course variables and divorce. Attention was given to the differences between men and women in experiencing divorce and to the usefulness of people's self-reports about marital difficulties as predictors of divorce. There were found to be clear links between the difficulties reported by individuals in their marriages and the likelihood of divorce. It was established that women report more marital problems than men.
