Parents can teach their children not to urinate in their sleep. Bed-wetting occurs because a child cannot unconsciously control the bladder-emptying reflex. Steps include telling the child how the bladder functions and how it can be controlled, and asking the child to urinate before going to bed.

Some children feign sickness while some would not even admit that they are feeling unwell. If one's children fall under the latter category who tend to deny their sickness, their needs should be attended to but they must not be pampered beyond reason either.
