Behavior problems, academic skill delays and school failure among school-aged children in foster care: their relationship to placement characteristics
Article Abstract:
School-aged children in foster care have a high percentage of school failure. Behavior problems showed a significant relationship to child suspension and/or expulsion from school, but not with grade retention or academic delays.

Children at risk: effects of a four-year head start transition program on special education identification
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates the effectiveness of a Head Start program in which high risk children are provided with educational transition assistance. The authors, comparing children who were involved in the program from kindergarten until the third grade with children who did not receive the same services, maintain Head Start was successful in decreasing special education placement.
