Stress as a driver of the allocation of housework
Article Abstract:
Allocation of housework is usually the outcome of a dynamic decision making process rather than a static contract between marriage partners. Stress precedes and influences the time allocation by spilling over from one role to another or from one partner to the other. Stress is taken as the tension generated from demands of various roles held by a person. Home based stress is positively related to housework allocation with greater stress resulting in more time in housework. Couples share varied responses to each others stress levels.
