Attributes of questions and interviewers as correlates of interviewing performance
Article Abstract:
The nature of the questions asked by interviewers, as well as the characteristics of the interviewers themselves, can affect the accuracy of surveys. Forty interviewers were studied during 79 interviews. The results indicated that the interviewers read over 91% of the questions verbatim. The interviewers were more likely to misread questions that were longer. Interviewers' accuracy was not affected by their experience or the refusal rate.
