The Bernina ironing system, retailing at 499 US dollars for the Steam Station and 399 US dollars for the Ironing Table, is intended for use by the home sewer. The iron is lightweight with a thumb switch to control the steam from the separate boiler, which unfortunately requires distilled water.

Bernina's new machines: computers that sew

Bernina has launched six new models of sewing machines, including the Activa 130 and 140, the Virtousa 150 and 160 and the Artista 170 and 180. All these machines, except the 180, provide the same Swiss-engineered mechanicals, including an oscillating bobbin hook and a speed-control pedal.
