Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri, filed away her first novel as a failure in 1999 but when she read it again after a few years she found it perfect and it is this novel that she has released as The Namesake. The writer, born to Indian parents found it very difficult to adhere to the multicultural lifestyle of her parents who wanted her to behave like an Indian at home and an American outside the house. Thus, her writings gave her the perfect outlet to vent out her feelings.

US based author Alexandra Fuller who wrote about her experiences in Rhodesia grew up near the Rhodesia-Mozambique border during the war, close to minefields with bombs going of at regular intervals. After shifting to the US she has gone back to cover the political situation in, what is now, Zimbabwe but is worried she might not survive another trip because of her big mouth.
