Playing with design
Article Abstract:
Designers Jacquelyn Nouveau, Rosemary Eichorn and Linda Lee were asked to take part in a garment-design exercise. The designers were given the same palette of fabrics, fictional plot and guidelines. The resulting garments were distinctly different. The designers suggested that any design process should start by deciding what looks best on the person for the piece is being designed.

Collaged quilt drama: use templates and machine applique for clear, sharp edges and maximum design flexibility
Article Abstract:
The final appearance of a quilt will not be known until its completion if it is made using precut, ready-to-applique motifs that are put together as a collage. The pattern may be based on natural, organic creations rather than traditional geometric forms. The quilt will change as the work continues and as each new fabric is added.
