Quilted landscapes from straight stitches
Article Abstract:
Quilted landscapes look difficult to do but require only basic techniques and inexpensive tools. Textures are designed using zigzag and straight stitches on a sewing machine with a machine embroidery foot. Quilted scenes can be inspired by favorite photographs and brought to life with the right fabric.

Dyeing with a pleater
Article Abstract:
A smocking pleater is a fabric dyer's and clothing designer's delight. Aside from pleating fabric for smocking, the pleater can also be used in creating hand-dyed fabrics in a style reminiscent to the Japanese art of Mokume Sibori dyeing, which uses tightly patterned rows of running stitches.
