When meritocracies fail
Article Abstract:
An organization that maintains a meritocracy provides rewards based on professional achievement. Results show that democratic meritocracies are plagued with the problem of metering. The reward system in such types of organizations is based on the choices of the median members rather than the best employees. Thus, highly productive members do not benefit from such a system.
