The rule of Carter and Lincoln
Article Abstract:
Jazz artists Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln are making jazz singing a more popular and respected art form. While both artists share the same age, 62, each has carved out her own unique song styling, with Carter's comparable to Ella Fitzgerald's scatting and Lincoln's more like the blues of Billie Holiday. Interviews with the two jazz greats reveal their different philosophies towards their art.
