To turn a better point
Article Abstract:
A better method for turning collar points combines the home-sewer's method of trimming the seams and pushing out the point and the custom-shop approach of folding the seams and lifting out the tip. The new method trims the seam allowances to fold the fabric, making it easier to turn the tip with an awl.

Easing in a seam
Article Abstract:
Sewers ease seamlines to match the longer seamline with the shorter one. Easing can be done by preparing the seams prior to sewing, extending the shorter seam as the unequal layers are sewed together and allowing the machine ease in the longer seamline as the layers move beneath the presser foot.
