Chardonnay perks: One man's journey from coffee to wine
Article Abstract:
Christopher Calkins, co-founder of the San Francisco-based Spinelli Coffee Co. chain, used his experience in growing and processing coffee to create the Destino winery. The winery focuses on Chardonnay grapes and wines and has recently introduced its first offerings: Chardonnay Russian Rivver Valley 1999 and Chardonnay Napa Valley 1999. Calkins rents space from Bouchaine Vineyards and grows the Russian River Valley Chardonnay grapes there.
