The 1993 California pinot noir vintage was hurt by a harvest heat wave that lessened the wine's color and flavor. Still there were several good ones, with the Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Carneros pinot noir getting the editor's choice selection. Several others are suggested.

Does Pinot Noir age? A retrospective tasting of top 1990s and 1986s from California
Article Abstract:
Pinot Noir from the 1986 vintage is getting a bit old, although a few are still excellent. Most, however, reached their peak around 1992. Many from the 1990 vintage are superb, such as the Joseph Swan Russian River Valley, which merits a 94 rating on a scale of one to 100.
